The Obvara Egg Vessel is a unique piece characterized by its egg-like shape and the distinctive markings produced by the Obvara firing process. This technique involves heating the vessel, dipping it into a fermented flour mixture, and then rapidly cooling it, which seals the surface and enhances its decorative appeal. Utilizing local Baltic clay and traditional methods, the firing process spans several days, resulting in organic patterns and textures that reflect the rich cultural heritage of the region. The Obvara technique, also known as "Baltic Raku," is an ancient method originating in Eastern Europe around the 12th century, making each piece distinct and historically significant.
