SYMBOL

“Symbols constitute only empty bottles, which we use only when we fill them in with something. They stand for a personal alphabet. Our exceptionalism is the only thing that we possess”.

Louise Bourgeois.

I use consumptive kitsch to talk about symbols and their perception. By multiplying the symbol in porcelain I provide it with a new value which is no longer only the consumptive value but which also acquires its symbolical meaning. With this work, I emphasize the importance of symbols and our habits connected with them as well as the context in which they are exposed. One of the inspirations that were founded as the basis for the creation of this work was the Anticommunist “Orange Alternative” art movement established in 1980 in Wrocław, Poland.

The installation of sculptures was created in 2009.
